At the Mobile Games Design event on Wednesday 19th October in Sheffield, Game Republic was pleased to announce that software and technology company Autodesk, Inc will be the games industry network’s first ever official supporter.
The affiliation with Autodesk is the first of its kind for Game Republic, which began in 2003, and now brings together the largest games industry network in Northern England with more than 60 company members and nine universities and more than 700 individual members in both the Game Republic and GaMaYo networks across Yorkshire, the North East and North West of England.
Autodesk builds 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, including the games industry standard software Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Maya LT, Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Stingray, Autodesk Scaleform and Autodesk MotionBuilder.
Jamie Sefton, managing director of Game Republic, has described the support from Autodesk, “as a step/change in what we can deliver in the coming year for our Game Republic and GaMaYo members. It means we can bring an even more ambitious event programme together to help and get more business for our members.”
Autodesk will be working with Game Republic and will support the GR events from October 2016. The collaboration means Autodesk can provide useful insider tips and information on their software for game developers on a special Autodesk section of the Game Republic website. Free help and advice on the Autodesk software available for games development – including the innovative Maya LT, 3D modelling and animation tool built for indie games studios,- will also be available for Game Republic members.
The programme of Game Republic events coming this year and during 2017 will combine social events as well as business events bringing platform-holders, publishers, investors and designers together with companies and developers from across Northern England.
