Skills Bootcamps to support games industry in North Yorkshire

Thanks to support from York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, the Department for Education and Skills for Life, people looking to get into the games industry for employment or to start a games business could be eligible for up to 100% funding to attend an industry-led Skills Bootcamp designed to secure jobs or support business start-up or improve your own self-employed opportunities as a freelancer.

If you have a degree in games or a qualification in a game-related course or have completed a different qualification but spent lots of time creating games of your own and are over 19 and resident in North Yorkshire, you can apply now for a free place on the Graduate Work Ready Games Industry Skills Bootcamp. The Skills Bootcamp is delivered in person and online from November 20th to 31st March 2024. The course will include mentoring and support from tutors experienced in all aspects of the games industry. The Skills Bootcamp will support you all the way from learning about games job opportunities, focusing and updating your portfolio by working on employer briefs and hearing their direct feedback on your work, meeting and understanding a wide range of key job roles and what may be suitable for someone with your skills and talents. The course’s ultimate objective is to support you in securing job interviews or to launch or improve your own game-related business.

Once you have applied, if you are eligible, you will be contacted to arrange an interview from the week commencing 6th November. This will be via phone or on video call. You will also be asked to share examples of your work or studies.

Deadline for applications is 10th November 2023. Apply here:

Eligible applicants will be invited to an online meeting to understand if the Skills Bootcamp is a good fit for you and likely to achieve what you are seeking. There will be two in-person meet-ups for successful applicants – the first on 20th and 21st November in York and the second in April (date to be confirmed)
