The Game Republic network is celebrating its tenth birthday this autumn!
Set up in 2003 by a group of Yorkshire games developers, Game Republic was
an initiative to give the members a louder voice, and the ability to share information, resources and development work.
A decade on and the network is still going strong, now as a private company, with more than 60 games developers, universities and affiliates from Yorkshire, the north-west and north-east of England, enjoying regular monthly business meetings with the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Amazon, Unity, Havok and the BBC.
“It’s just fantastic that the Game Republic network is celebrating its tenth birthday this year,” said MD and founder of Revolution Software, Charles Cecil. “We initially set up Game Republic a decade ago to really help games developers in this region, and it’s wonderful that this is still continuing today.”
The Game Republic network will be celebrating its tenth birthday on Thursday 17th October in Leeds, with a special invite-only event for current members, supporters, previous speakers and industry friends. The party also includes a special selection of recent and retro games from Game Republic members provided by Replay Events.
The party is exclusive to Game Republic members, but to celebrate our 10th birthday, we are inviting non-members to enter a competition to win a free ticket to this special 10th birthday celebration. Simply “Like” our Game Republic Facebook page and write a comment on the birthday news post with your favourite Yorkshire/NE/NW game from the past 30 years. Hit the link and good luck!
