On Saturday 6th June, Game Republic’s MD Jamie Sefton and Community and Events Officer Michela Vilinskis headed to York for the first ever York and North Yorkshire game jam to support as guest judges. The event, run by XR Stories in partnership with recently founded York Game Makers Guild, focused on pairing students and young people with the local game community to create content around the game jam theme, Inclusive gaming.
Along with guest judges, Bobby Thandi (Founder and CEO of XR Games) and Gwendolyn Fritscher (Revolution Software Ltd) Jamie and Michela dived into judging submissions for the game jam, considering three criteria: theme, gameplay and innovation. The winning game: Disco Survivors centred around befriending a diverse range of dancers by matching their disco grooves! The game was also designed with a colour blind friendly palette. Jamie Sefton shared a few words about the event “Given the short timeframe the teams had to produce something, they all did a brilliant job. It’s always great to see emerging talent from the region, the teams worked hard and it shows in the games they produced.”

Special thanks to our official partners and their continued support throughout 2026, Red Kite Games, Xsolla and Double Eleven.
