It’s the annual Game Republic Student Showcase on Tuesday 3rd June at the University of Huddersfield! Five universities and colleges from the network will showcase more than 25 projects and have their work judged in four categories – Game Art, Game Design, Game Technology and Best Team – sponsored by four Game Republic members including Sumo Digital, Four Door Lemon and Just Add Water.
The Game Republic Student Showcase has previously resulted in more than 30 placements and full-time jobs in the games industry, with previous winners finding employment with developers in the region including Rockstar Leeds and Just Add Water.
The event will also showcase Huddersfield-based games developer HyperSloth, who will be demonstrating its new story-driven first-person adventure on the virtual reality platform Oculus Rift. The evening networking event will also feature the prizegiving, a talk from Skillset and a panel, “The Future of the Games Industry”, with industry guests from Oculus VR, Microsoft and NVIDIA.
