Game Republic Student Showcase 2015

217A3914The Game Republic Student Showcase is happening again on Tuesday 2nd June – and the eighth incarnation of the games business network’s yearly event is going to be the biggest ever.

Starring six universities and colleges from the GR network, the Student Showcase takes place at the University of York, and will feature four of the region’s games companies sponsoring and judging the 25+ final-year projects in four awards including the Team17 Award for Game Technology, the Revolution Software Award for Game Art and the Sumo Digital Award for Game Design.

The evening event, kindly sponsored by NatWest ESpark, will include the prizegiving, an industry panel with Anna Mansi (BFI), Lee Stott (Microsoft), Joe Robins (Unity) and more, followed by networking and drinks. The Game Republic Student Showcase continues GR’s commitment to provide better links between academia and industry and also to develop and nurture games talent in Yorkshire and the North of England.

The evening event is open to GR members – if you would like to attend, please sign up here.

Thanks again to our generous games companies including Team17, Revolution and Sumo Digital, and NatWest ESpark for sponsoring the event.  Entrepreneurial Spark is a business accelerator in Leeds that will provide office space and access to fundamental services in bank premises, a 6-18 month programme of hands-on coaching and mentoring, a start-up ‘bootcamp’ and regular workshop events for up to 80 entrepreneurs at any one time. This service will be funded entirely by the bank and will be completely free of charge to entrepreneurs – and taking no equity. For more information on how to apply follow @ESparkUK on Twitter or hit the website.
