Happy New Year from Game Republic! The Yorkshire and north-of-England network and its members enjoyed a stellar year in 2012, doubling our membership to more than 50 and hosting business-focused events in Yorkshire and the north-east with the likes of GOG.com, Channel 4, BlackBerry, Eurogamer and Unity.
2013 marks the tenth birthday of Game Republic and will be an even busier year, with more networking events across the whole of the north, delivering more opportunities for games businesses, affiliates and educational partners – which now includes six universities with the recent addition of the University of York. The highlight of the Game Republic educational initiatives is the Student Showcase, which will again take place in May – details soon! Game Republic will also be present at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, and the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in March helping UK Trade & Investment deliver their support of Yorkshire & Humber games, digital and mobile businesses.
The first Game Republic networking event of 2013 is on Thursday 24th January in Sheffield with Microsoft discussing Windows 8 and Windows Phone. The event website is here – it’s free for Game Republic members, so if you’d like to know more about joining the biggest regional games business network in the UK, contact jamie [at] gamerepublic [dot] net.
