Expert Engineers, Kinetic Games and PQube join Unity x Game Republic event

Unity will be bringing its team of senior engineers and specialists to a Unity x Game Republic Exclusive event at the National Videogame Museum on 22nd April. The event  which starts at 2pm will be jointly hosted by Liz Mercuri, Senior Partner Relations Manager and Dr Jackie Mulligan, Development Director for Game Republic.  Alongside the technical talks, Attendees will also be treated to a talk from Andy Pearson, CMO & Director of Publishing Partnerships at PQube on a talk that promises to demystify publishers and share what it takes to get signed and a talk by tech director of the indie hit success Phasmophobia by Kinetic Games. The event forms part of Game Republic’s events and activities for 2026 supported by Official Partners Red Kite GamesXsolla and Double Eleven.

At the event, Senior engineers Olly Nicholson and Joe Robins will be bringing the latest updates from Unity including a sweep of features since Unity 6, some 6.3 nuggets and a glimpse into the future roadmaps across disciplines with insights for programmers, artists & designers and all developers, plus there will be a Quiz for Swag at the end.

Corrie Green, Senior Advocate will be providing a walkthrough the cutting-edge graphical advancements introduced in Unity 6 that will enhance your projects graphical performance. This presentation delves into innovative optimization techniques, enhanced rendering capabilities, and performance-boosting tools designed to create stunning visuals while maintaining efficiency. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or new to Unity, learn how these features can elevate your projects and deliver immersive experiences like never before.

Alongside specialist talks on Unity, Kinetic Games will be sharing their work on Unity creating Phasmophobia. Ben Lavender, Technical Director will share insights on the developments and what has been learned in a talk entitled Indie at Scale: What Phasmophobia Teaches About Sustainable Unity Engineering

Ben  describes the talk “Phasmophobia began as the vision of a solo developer and grew into a global co-op horror hit. Five years on, Kinetic Games has expanded into a 40?person studio producing a feature film, launching Kinetic Games Publishing, and continually evolving the game through major updates shaped by an active community. This talk traces that journey from a one?person codebase to multi-department studio, unpacking the technical and organisational challenges that surfaced along the way. It explores the pitfalls of rapid scaling, the engineering debt inherited from early solo?dev constraints, and the practices that enabled a transition from “doing all the programming” to leading a team as a technical director. Attendees will come away with practical lessons on building Unity systems that remain maintainable, scalable, and resilient as teams and ambitions grow.”

MD of Game Republic Jamie Sefton said “This event will be so informative for game developers providing experts on hand who can not only share what is available now, but also some of what is coming. There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions in particular 1-2-1 in the Ask The Expert Happy Hour And we are very excited to have Kinetic Games who have produced Phasmophobia and are now publishing games as well as PQube in the room who invest and publish games too.”

The Unity x Game Republic exclusive will end with a Happy Hour Ask The Expert tables, food and drink.
