Game Republic held it’s yearly (and LEGENDARY) Christmas Party and Quiz, sponsored by Boneloaf, on Wednesday 13th December 2023 at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds! 100 game developers, educational partners and affiliates enjoyed incredible pizzas (with names like the vegan duck-inspired What’s the Quack), drinks, mince pies and a games-themed quiz with prizes including exclusive Gang Beasts plushies and vinyl, and prizes from our Official Partners Escape Technology T-shirts, books and keyrings and Red Kite Games-developed titles including Hogwarts Legacy.
The winners of the quiz this year were again, the Radical Revolutionaries, a team made from developers Radical Forge and Revolution Software with a couple of other companies joining in – congratulations! Last place was admirably taken by single player team Matt Shepcar from Red Kite Games. The rest of the teams were close and you should be happy if you achieved a healthy mid-table status this year.
After the quiz was a raffle for prizes themed around Game Republic, with a pair of tickets for our Yorkshire Games Festival Reception & Dinner on 6th March, a Doctor Who Dalek AR wall poster (as for our January 18th Narrative event, speaker Paul Cornell, is a writer for Doctor Who TV series and Chris Dring from GamesIndustry.biz writes for Doctor Who Magazine) and a Dungeons & Dragons Starter Kit (as our company member PitStop Productions did the sound, music and voice acting for the award-winning Baldur’s Gate 3). Winners were Abbi Senior, Phil Scott (NVIDIA) and Conor Clarke (Boneloaf).
Andrew Crawshaw from Thunkd then surprised Jamie Sefton from Game Republic with a special piece of SNES controller art to celebrate 20 years of the Game Republic network and thanked him for his work over the last 15 years.
