Game Republic, the largest games industry network and trade body outside of London, is growing its team with the appointment of ex-GamesIndustry.biz sales lead George Corner. George has over 25 years of experience in commercial sales, and over the past decade has led commercial strategy across various avenues in the video game industry, from large-scale consumer events to industry-leading media brands.
“I am delighted to be joining Game Republic as Commercial Director,” says George. “I’ve always admired the work they do to support a consistently vibrant and successful development scene that has so often been overlooked in the UK market, and I’m looking forward to securing new commercial backing to elevate and support the incredible member studios”.
Most recently, George spent five years heading up commercial at GamesIndustry.biz. Initially brought in to grow the events portfolio, which he achieved by increasing event revenue by 156% in his first year, he quickly assumed responsibility for all commercial aspects of the business across both the digital and events portfolios. He successfully steered the brand through a difficult transitional period for the wider industry, breaking deal revenue records three years in a row despite challenging conditions.
A proud Scotsman, George remains based in Glasgow and is passionate about advancing the games industry outside the London bubble and has long been a supporter of Game Republic’s advocacy for game developers in the North.
