Following the success of Game Republic’s Graduate Work Ready bootcamp which completed in March 2024, Game Republic is providing another Skills Bootcamp in 2024 in North Yorkshire. The Skills Bootcamps are aimed at people looking to set up as a contractor, freelancer or set up their own studio or looking to secure a job in the games industry. All applicants should have a degree or the equivalent of a degree based on experience. Places are fully funded and being delivered by Game Republic with support from NextGen Skills Academy. There are only 15 places available for these programmes which are being funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Department for Education and the UK Government. Participants need to be based in North Yorkshire or be able to relocate to North Yorkshire to set up as a studio or as a sole trader.
The Graduate Work Ready Games Industry Bootcamp will include two live training events on 7/8 November 2024 and 22/23 January 2025 in York, online learning, mentoring and assignments from leading studios as well as support from well-seasoned and connected industry leaders. Participants will also be able to attend Game Republic events during the skills bootcamp for free which will provide unrivalled networking opportunities and support.
MD of Game Republic Jamie Sefton explains “It is more competitive than ever for graduates, so the bootcamp is to help graduates to stand out, giving them the best start whether they are wanting to get on track for progressing their games industry careers and will also particularly help if they are looking at setting up their own businesses or self-employment – as this has been a good route for those attending our latest Game Studio Start-Up skills bootcamp.”
The programme will complete in March 2025. To apply and check your eligibility, click on the link
