The newest Game Republic member, Cast Iron Games, has just been announced – a sister studio to another GR member, Double Eleven, under the umbrella of the Pneuma Games Group, and formed by video games industry veterans to concentrate on AAA co-development and game porting. Located in Tileyard North, Wakefield (where GR is hosting GaMaYo on 20th November), Cast Iron Games is actively recruiting across several established development projects.
Studio heads, Arden Aspinall and Jon Seymour, have a proven track record of building teams to create outstanding optimised games on the Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation, Xbox and mobile platforms. Cast Iron Games has brought together a solid foundation of craftsmanship, cutting-edge expertise and a drive and the skills to push technological boundaries.
This venture was made possible through the long-standing friendship and professional collaboration between the leadership of Double Eleven and Arden and Jon. Lee Hutchinson, CEO of Double Eleven and Pneuma Games Group (Double Eleven’s Parent Company), commented: “I have wanted to have Jon and Arden join our group of companies for many years now and I am thrilled to finally be able to welcome Cast Iron Games to Pneuma Games Group to sit aside its sister Studio Double Eleven.”
Arden Aspinall, CEO and Co-founder, explained: “I wanted the company to reflect the name, a company that’s Cast Iron in its reliability and the quality of results it delivers for clients. I’ve always been inspired by the way that Lee and his leadership team have grown Double Eleven – a company based on sound principles which we share. We have a strong synergy with the Double Eleven vision, and we will seek to align our pathways wherever possible. These values now underpin the way we operate as a team in Cast Iron. A safe pair of hands forging partnerships that are built to last.”
Jon Seymour, COO and Co-founder, added: “Creating an exceptional environment for our team was really important to us. We’re surrounded by talented people who are all aligned, and it’s such a motivating force and gives us the freedom to really focus on what we do best which is bringing our client’s bold and creative visions to life”.
The name of the studio was forged through their shared principles of a cohesive team, solid development and reliable delivery and pride themselves on building lasting and strong partnerships, underpinned by their Cast Iron promise.
Jamie Sefton, Managing Director of Game Republic, added, “It’s great to have Arden and Jon join Game Republic with their brand new studio Cast Iron Games. Fantastic to have another experienced games studio set up in the North of England, and at Tileyard North in Wakefield where we host GaMaYo too! We look forward to helping Cast Iron Games with their business and successfully grow their studio here in the region.”
Cast Iron Games are actively recruiting for strong organic growth in 2025. With several projects in current development, the founders are gearing up for an expansion of their portfolio through co-development and porting, with an eye to full game development as the team grows. Building a multi-disciplinary base in their hometown supports their long-term vision for the company and demonstrates their commitment to cultivating local talent and deepening their roots in the North.
