Following the success of the Graduate Work Ready Bootcamp, Game Republic will be starting a new bootcamp for individuals and teams wanting to set up their own game studios or looking to set up as a sole trader. The Game Studio Start-Up bootcamp will be delivered by Game Republic with support from NextGen Skills Academy and has been designed to equip you (and your team if you already have one) with the knowledge, skills and network you need to start up your own studio or freelance business / sole trader enterprise.
Jamie Sefton MD of Game Republic said “I am very pleased that we are able to deliver this training and support, in particular having seen the number of indie games being developed in the region. Games play a vital part in our regional economy, supporting jobs in companies and suppliers and we have a strong track record of successful games development right here.”
Games industry leaders, developers, studio bosses, lawyers, accountants will all join us during an intense 16 week programme of online and in-person sessions and events and one to one mentoring so you can take your business or game development to the next level. If you are successful in your application you will gain a fully funded place and will need to be available for online sessions on Mondays (5.30-7.30pm) and for in-person events on 2/3rd July and 4th/5th September in York and 19th September in Sheffield. You will also have an opportunity to join Game Republic events for free across the North for the duration of the programme. The first online session will take place on 24th June.
Places are limited so apply now to be considered.
We expect the bootcamp will be over subscribed – all applicants will have a call with the bootcamp leaders to learn more, so that we can ensure the programme is a good fit for your needs. To apply you will need to complete the application form here and return it to on the email address on the form. You will also need to send an email to us at the address on the application form of no more than 500 words about what you are doing currently, your ambition and why you are applying for the Game Studio Start-Up bootcamp.
The first part of the application form is to confirm eligibility. At the end of the form you will need to confirm that should you attend the bootcamp, that you are committed to the intended outcomes which is to start up as a self-employed game developer contractor, start up a games studio or grow a games business in North Yorkshire.
