Game Republic Awards 2026 Boss Judge Reveal

Game Republic is delighted to welcome Rhianna Pratchett as this year’s boss judge for the Game Republic 2026 Awards, who will be reviewing the nominations and selecting the winners across this year’s Awards. The Game Republic Awards form part of the events programme for 2026, supported by Game Republic’s Official Partners Red Kite Games, Double Eleven and Xsolla, alongside Strategic Partner Steel City Interactive. Boss Judge Spotlight

Rhianna Pratchett is an award-winning writer whose work spans video games, comics, prose, film and television. There are few corners of the entertainment industry she hasn’t explored.

In video games, she has helped craft acclaimed titles such as Heavenly Sword, Mirror’s Edge, the entire Overlord series, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lost Words: Beyond the Page, REKA and Life Below. Alongside her work as a lead writer, she is also an in-demand narrative consultant for video games, collaborating with studios worldwide to strengthen stories, shape characters and worlds, and elevate emotional impact.

In comics, Rhianna has written for DC, Dark Horse, Dynamite, Marvel and Kodansha. Among her favourite achievements are creating an origin story for Red Sonja’s iconic chainmail bikini and sending Lara Croft into battle on the London Underground dressed as one of the Bennet sisters.

Her film and television work includes collaborations with Motive Pictures, Film4, New Regency, Complete Fiction, The Jim Henson Company and The Bureau. She is also co-director of Narrativia, the multi-media production company that manages the rights to the works of Sir Terry Pratchett – her late father.

Rhianna made history as the first woman to write an official Fighting Fantasy novel with Crystal of Storms. She also co-authored Campaigns & Companions: The Complete Roleplaying Guide for Pets and Tiffany Aching’s Guide to Being a Witch, the latter marking her first foray into the Discworld universe. Most recently, she adapted The Wee Free Men into graphic novel form for Puffin (Spring 2027).

She also hosted Mythical Creatures on BBC Radio 4 and has contributed narration and voice work to numerous audio productions, including Tiffany Aching’s Guide to Being a WitchA Stroke of the Pen: The Lost Stories, and Pseudopod, the world’s premier horror fiction podcast.

The closing date for nominations is 30th September 2026. The shortlist will be revealed in October with winners announced on 26th November 2026 at GaMaYo – the largest and friendliest gathering of indie game developers in the UK, and will take place at WX, Wakefield.
