Rising Star Award Commemorates Industry Legend

On the 13th November over 500 game developers, studio heads, publishers and platform-holders have registered to gather together and enjoy an evening of networking, roundtables, game demos with over 60 new games on show and the award-winners for the Game Republic Awards will be revealed in a short and sweet presentation. The event is being sponsored by HP and AMD with Escape Technology and Plus Accounting and is supported by Game Republic’s Official Partners Red Kite Games, Xsolla and Barclays Games and Creative.

Martyn Brown Rising Star Award

Reflecting on the incredible support, help and friendship Martyn spent his career fostering, it was clear that the Rising Star Award not only commemorate but celebrate the values he championed. Jamie Sefton, Managing Director at Game Republic was asked to share his thoughts on the award and what it represents.

“This award is close to the hearts of many within the industry, Martyn was a true legend but most importantly a champion of the values associated with this award. It’s something we believe he would have been happy to support. Anyone nominated for this award should be proud of the recognition.”

Martyn’s sons Harry and Jack Brown will be at the event and will present this new award. Commenting earlier on this year about the new Martyn Brown Rising Star Award they said

“It warms our heart to see an award be created in honour of our father. In his work life, Martyn historically had a phenomenal gift at recognising talent in people who may not even have recognised it in themselves yet. Whether it was their raw talent, a skillset built by years of dedication, or a gift for producing great ideas, Martyn saw it all and would help draw eyes to these individuals while supporting them with a wealth of knowledge in order to see them become their best selves.

Picking through the many statements of nominees – here are just a few stand-out comments that show how much positive attitude, helping others and perseverance creates a rising star. We also created a word cloud to highlight all the amazing and positive words associated with the nominees…
