Seventh Disorder Secures UK Government Backing for Narrative Adventure ‘Mithra’ Through UK Games Fund

Game Republic members Seventh Disorder is proud to announce it has been awarded grant funding from the Video Games Prototype Fund (Round 19). The support allows the team to focus full-time on the development of their original title Mithra, a hand-drawn narrative mystery that explores the hidden influence of one of history’s oldest cults.

This milestone follows a successful year of community building and public validation, supported by the studio’s membership of Game Republic.

Proving the Promise on the Road

A critical component of Seventh Disorder’s successful application was the ability to “road-test” the game’s core premise with the general public. Through Game Republic’s extensive network and event support, the development team showcased Mithra at major UK gaming and pop-culture events including:

  • GaMaYo
  • MegaCon Live Manchester
  • MCM Comic Con Birmingham

Having the ability to take Mithra to multiple live events allowed us to prove the game’s premise and promise with the general public. I think that having evidence of these positive showings really strengthened our application with the UK Games Fund” said Jared Rigby, Co-Founder of Seventh Disorder.

Strengthening the Northern Games Ecosystem

The UK Games Fund support has also fostered new regional collaborations. Seventh Disorder has partnered with fellow Game Republic studio Bad Tasty to assist in building bespoke narrative design tools for the project.

The partnership highlights the strength of the Northern development community; the two studios initially connected through the Great Northern Games Discord, a digital hub for regional talent also managed by Game Republic. This collaboration ensures that Mithra benefits from specialized technical expertise while keeping the project’s roots firmly planted in the North of England.

About Mithra

Mithra is a 2D point-and-click adventure where players follow Kyra as she investigates her ties to an ancient cult. As she falls deeper down the rabbit-hole, Kyra must unravel the truth about her past and make choices that will determine her fate and the world’s.
