Over 200 students have already registered to attend the Game Republic Careers Conference on 18th June that will take place at the University of Salford Media City Campus. Doors open at 12 noon with activities starting at 12.30pm with careers talks, panels, portfolio reviews, roundtables, an expo and a pitching room. Studios and publishers represented at the event include Yogscast Games, Atomhawk, Sumo Digital, Tanglewood Games, Team17, Lucid Games, Wushu Studios, 10:10 Games, Silver Lining Interactive, Betajester, Cast Iron Games, Ceratops Games, Bad Tasty, K9 Studios, Runner Duck, Gritstone Games, Boneloaf, Silver Lining Interactive, Cloud Imperium Games, Otterweave Games Studio and Hardly Hyperbolic and there will be new games to play developed by studios and students. The event forms part of the Game Republic events programme supported by Official Partners Red Kite Games, Xsolla and Double Eleven
During the event students will be able to have portfolios reviewed whether they are artists, animators, programmers or designers and get advice, they will be able to join career roundtables, pitch their game ideas to the games industry including publishers, network with industry and attend panels including:

The GR Careers conference and expo will be hosted at the University of Salford and is open to students attending Universities and Colleges that are Game Republic Educational Partners these are University Campus Doncaster, Grimsby Institute, University of Huddersfield, Hull University, University of Lancashire, University of Leeds, University Centre Leeds, Leeds City College, Leeds Trinity University, Leeds Arts University, University of Greater Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Northampton University, SAE Institute, University of Salford, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Staffordshire, Wakefield College, York St John University and University of York
Dr Jackie Mulligan, Development Director of Game Republic said “This event enables students to meet with those working in the games industry, to learn more about what game studios are looking for, to pitch the game ideas and to have their portfolios reviewed. It is a real opportunity for students to get the connections to help them.”
The event will provide an afternoon of opportunities with talks, an expo, portfolio reviews and career mentoring from game developers and studios. Alongside getting support in securing jobs in the games industry, the event will also provide opportunities for students to pitch their games or tech ideas to industry leaders.
