Why all day rates are not the same, how to do audio on a budget, the art of production and flow, co-development, publishing tips and more will be discussed at Game Republic’s Game Dev Essentials event on Sept 1oth. Over 100 attendees have registered from studios, developers, freelancers, screen and beyond. Thanks to support from Double Eleven, the event will be taking place at The Baltic – a spectacular spot on the Tyne and alongside the talks and fireside chat there will be networking before, during and after at the Riverside Lounge – and there is also a plan for a visit to a pub after that with some dedicated space for more networking too.
Speakers will be sharing tips, insights and help to the audience and there will be Q&As. Here is the final line-up!
Patrick Randall, Senior Producer, Double Eleven
Patrick has spent the last 4 years working at Double Eleven to deliver some amazing projects including Age of Empires 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Double Eleven Limited is a full-service video games publisher and developer, with their headquarters located in Middlesbrough (North East England) and a second studio in Kuala Lumpur. Since becoming an independent publisher, they have focused on a mix of highly collaborative co-development and original IP work, bringing great games like Minecraft Dungeons, Prison Architect, Goat Simulator, RimWorld, and Rust to new platforms and audiences. They recently developed Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of Red Dead Redemption and Grounded. In October 2024, they released a remaster of the Lego Harry Potter Collection, a highly anticipated PC version of Red Dead Redemption and their first homegrown IP, Blindfire, an online multiplayer first-person shooter which marks a new chapter in their creative journey. Alongside these projects, Double Eleven maintains an ongoing collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios to bring new adventures to the Wasteland in Fallout 76.
Becky Jackson, Operations and Commercial Director, Atomhawk
As Atomhawk’s Operations & Commercial Director Becky is driven by a passion for facilitating world class creative teams to succeed in a high pace, high quality, creatively driven environment. She brings 15 years of project and client Management, eight of which specialising in the delivery of outsourced Art and Design at all stages of the development pipeline, across multiple time zones; working on AAA, AA, Mobile and GAAS for globally renowned IP.
John Sanderson is the founder and CEO of PitStop Productions
John leads PitStop Productions – a multi-award-winning provider of audio services for the game and entertainment industries. Since PitStop was established in 1996, the company has worked with many of the world’s leading developers and publishers, collectively contributing to hundreds of titles and products.
Sophie Shanks, Product Marketing Manager, Kepler Interactive
Sophie Shanks has been working in games for the last few years, starting out at PQube as their Lifecycle Marketing Manager, moving into Brand Management at Playtonic Games. Sophie now works at Kepler as a Product Marketing Manager working on a whole host of exciting titles!
Andrew Willans – Studio Design Director / Game Director / Creative Director
Over the past 18 years Andrew has been part of developing a range of AAA titles while designing at companies such as 2K, Ubisoft, CCP, and Sumo Digital. With a proven career in delivering high quality games on consoles, PC, and VR, Andrew applies player-focused design methodologies to bring out the best in every project whether large or small. Andrew has worked on larger scale AAA projects – Driver San Francisco, Watch_Dogs, The Crew, Tom Clancy’s: The Division, premium AA titles – EVE: Valkyrie, Hood: Outlaws and Legends, Deathsprint 66, and smaller indie games such as Grow Home which was Bafta Nominated for Game Design.
Phil Scott – Director of Developer Relations, NVIDIA
Industry veteran and research fellow with over three decades  of experience in video games, spanning PC, console, VR, and mobile platforms will be sharing updates and opportunities for game developers.
