Jamie Sefton and Dr Jackie Mulligan collected the Supporting Star Award at Develop Star Awards last night at The Dome in Brighton in front of hundreds of industry developers, studio heads, platform holders and publishers. The Supporting Star Award was set up as a new category this year and is to champion “those companies that work with developers to share their understanding of the sector and have provided exceptional support to enable them to thrive and prosper.” Finalists shortlisted for the Award included Barclays Games and Creative, Coutts & Co, Fourth Floor Group, Game Republic, GG Insurance Services and Urban Ledgers.
On collecting the Award Jamie Sefton thanked “our incredible, brilliant games company, affiliate and University / College members for their amazing support of Game Republic” adding “It’s tough for many companies at the moment and I want to thank them for their continuing support, they are just amazing, incredibly talented, creative people.” He also took time to thank the Official Partners Barclays Games and Creative, Red Kite Games and Escape Technology and congratulated all the nominees and organisers of the prestigious event and “everyone who voted for us!” Jamie continued to thank the amazing platform-holders, publishers, sponsors, investors and so many more that have helped bring incredible content to developers in the North for most of the rest of the evening.
Jackie adds “It was so wonderful to be at this event with so many inspiring studios, technology providers and creative people. Game Republic is always focused on championing our industry and the incredible people within our sector. It was just amazing to feel that our work and in particular Jamie’s efforts over many years has been recognised. We will be hosting our own Game Republic Awards in November, so now know how lovely it feels to be nominated and even to win one!”
Fellow winners for the evening included Pitstop Productions for Best Creative Provider, Unreal Engine for Best Technology Provider, Hannah Flynn Marketing Star, Moo Yu Diversity Star, Amy Elliott Tomorrow’s Star, Best Original IP Local Thunk and Playstack Games and many more.
