The tenth Game Republic, supported by Autodesk, Student Showcase is taking place on Thursday 8th June in partnership with the University of Leeds.
The annual Student Showcase is the biggest event of its kind in the UK, with more than 25 teams of students from 9 Game Republic Educational Partner universities and colleges in the region presenting their final-year project work to be judged by representatives from four Yorkshire games companies including Sumo Digital, Revolution Software and Red Kite Games.
Prizes are awarded to the best projects in the following categories – Game Design, Game Art and Animation, Game Technology and Best Team – and dozens of placements and full-time jobs have been created since the Showcase began a decade ago.
As well as an opportunity for the region’s students to impress the games industry, the event will also feature a guest talk from the Microsoft HoloLens team, who will discuss the groundbreaking AR technology. The event also features opportunities for all the Educational Partners of Game Republic to network with the successful Yorkshire and Northern England games industry.
