Game Republic Awards are officially open! The Game Republic Awards celebrate the talent of individuals, teams and studios who create or support the production of games in The North! The Awards form part of the events programme for 2025 supported by Game Republic’s Official Partners Red Kite Games, Xsolla and Barclays Games and Creative. Winners will be announced at GaMaYo on 13th November 2025. Closing date for nominations is 30th September 2025.
Jamie Sefton, MD of Game Republic said “The Game Republic Awards have returned for the third year, and we expect lots of nominations once again – especially because we have seen some fantastic work coming from the games industry, as well as excellent research, tech innovations and games. This annual event allows us to celebrate the achievements of individuals, studios, educators and organisations as well as their efforts to make a positive impact on our industry. We invite everyone to make a nomination, and remember that you do not have to be a member of Game Republic to be nominated or win an Award”
This year, a new Game Republic Award has been introduced to mark the legacy of Martyn Brown who passed away in December 2024. The Martyn Brown Rising Star Award will invite nominations for an individual or studio that has started up or started out within the last 3 years and is doing great work in the industry. It will recognise talented individuals and/or studio teams that are showing great passion, talent and drive and creating great work and are set to achieve great things in games. The recognition of the legacy that Martyn has left in The North has been welcomed by his family.
Harry and Jack Brown commenting about the new Award said “It warms our heart to see an award be created in honour of our father. In his work life, Martyn historically had a phenomenal gift at recognising talent in people who may not even have recognised it in themselves yet. Whether it was their raw talent, a skillset built by years of dedication, or a gift for producing great ideas, Martyn saw it all and would help draw eyes to these individuals while supporting them with a wealth of knowledge in order to see them become their best selves.We hope that his legacy lives on, and through the Rising Star Award, we believe that our dad can continue to shine a spotlight on these incredible people regardless of his physical person no longer being with us.”
