Over 130 game developers gathered at Carousel Leeds this week for the annual Game Republic Summer Arcade Party. The event included rare retro handhelds and tabletop arcade machines and provided a chance to catch up with everyone whilst playing basketball games, darts, karaoke booths, air hockey, football and even shuffleboard. A delicious street food buffet and drinks were sponsored by Game Studio Training – who got a big round of applause for their support.
The GR Summer Party formed part of the Game Republic event programme for 2025 supported by Official Partners Red Kite Games, Barclays Games and Creative and Xsolla
At the start of the event Jamie Sefton thanked Andy Coley from event sponsor Game Studio Training and the Official Partners, and everyone for coming out to enjoy the event. He also announced exciting news on the new flagship conference for The North – Game Republic New Horizons – which will become Game Republic’s first Stadium gig.
“The GR Summer Party was great this year, and not just because everyone enjoyed playing games but also because we saw some new faces joining us too. It was so good to see people socialising and having fun together – Karaoke and darts proved a hit and the air hockey and basketball resulted in some fierce competition. The event is always popular and gives us a chance to thank our brilliant members for all they do to create great game experiences for people, and for their support and engagement in Game Republic’s event programme! This year we have timed it so that GR members can also join Climb25, one of the UK’s biggest investor events – so we look forward to seeing our members there on 2nd July making the most of opportunities to make new contacts that could help them to grow and succeed.”
Today Game Republic hosts an investment panel at Climb25 with Spike Laurie, Hiro Capital, Laura Harper, Lewis Silkin, Simon Barratt, Cooperative Innovations and Andy Coley author of Leadership is a Skill at 11am at the Cinema at the Royal Armouries as part of Climb25. The panel will be followed by a mixer event with lunch.
