Game Republic’s next online events will be on Thursday 26th November, kicking off at 4pm with a fireside chat with Graeme Struthers from renowned indie game publisher Devolver Digital.
After that, from 6pm, will be a GaMaYo Retro Special featuring a chat with games journalist and writer Chris Scullion about his love of retro games and his latest book The SNES Encyclopaedia – plus an opportunity for Game Republic and GaMaYo members to share their favourite retro game items.
At the end of the evening will be a special prize draw where attendees can win a fantastic piece of retro game history – a beautiful original Game Boy and copies of Tetris and Super Mario Land (see photo below). Industry site GamesIndustry.biz has launched a FREE online event aimed at students, graduates and anyone interested in a career in the games industry – the GI Academy Live – taking place from 26 – 28 October and sponsored by UK developer Creative Assembly.
GI Academy Live features keynote talks from the likes of Brenda Romero (Romero Games) and Mike Bithell (Bithell Games), a series of Masterclasses on different aspects of the industry, live roundtable discussions, 1-1 portfolio reviews and a Discord where students and anyone can ask for advice on various job roles including art/animation, programming, UI/UX design, game design, Quality Assurance, sound/music and community management.
Over the three days of the event, there will also be some very special world-famous industry guests dropping into the Discord chat at 3pm!

The next Game Republic online event will be on Wednesday 14th October at 3pm (BST) with Ubisoft!
Yves Le Yaouanq, Senior Scout and Business Development at Ubisoft, will present on opportunities for indie games developers, followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask questions on any aspect of the company’s publishing business.

The next Game Republic online event will be an XR/VR special on Thursday 24th September.
The event will be a great opportunity to catch up on the latest development and funding info from the virtual world of XR, with talks from XR Stories (University of York) and hugely successful UK game developer nDreams who have just launched their latest title Phantom Covert Ops.
We’ll also be joined by Jed Ashforth from Realised Realities (and ex-PlayStation VR) presenting on the VR/XR market and Emma Cooper from Cooperative Innovations (Leeds-based developers who have just released their new game Spaceteam VR) will take part in the XR panel.

Game Republic will host a games funding special webinar on Tuesday 1st September with two major funders of games developers.
The event will feature presentations and Q&As from UK Games Fund and Creative England; UK Games Fund will give an update on its funding for games developers of all sizes and experience, including the student-focused Tranzfuser scheme, while Creative England will outline the various initiatives it has for games companies for funding, mentoring and scaling-up.
STOP PRESS! The Department for International Trade will also give us an update on their funding for attending international events (real and virtual).
