Game Republic attended and showcased a selection of fantastic developers and university student projects from Yorkshire and The North at the Barclays Frenzy event at the company’s HQ at Canary Wharf in London on Thursday 16th May.
The event organised by Barclays Games & Creative, brought together indie game developers, service providers, publishers, investors and more for game demos, roundtables, panels and networking, with more than 120 exhibitors and 800 attendees.
Game Republic’s room at Frenzy included game demos Close to Flight from Middlesbrough-based Northrak and VR game Haus of Klaus from York-based Recluse Industries, as well as Refraction by Team Jar (Sheffield Hallam University), Entombed by Tombstone Interactive (Sheffield Hallam University), LoreNomicon (Sheffield Hallam University) and Redaction (University of Hull).
Other Game Republic members in attendance included Huey Games, Game Studio Training, Johnston Carmichael and Otterweave Games.
The event featured a keynote panel – Games Industry State of Play with guests including Elaine Dowman, Head of Games & Creative at Barclays and James Batchelor, Editor-in-chief for GamesIndustry.biz, discussing the games industry’s current tough period and the future for games. There were also roundtables on games funding, challenges for game start-ups and opportunities and risks in AI for game, followed by networking, pizzas and drinks for all Games Frenzy exhibitors and attendees.
