IGGI Team receive an award

Best Game-Related Research Award goes to IGGI, University of York

IGGI at the University of York has been awarded the Game Republic 20th Anniversary Best Game-Related Research Award sponsored by Red Kite Games. The research body was recognised for working for over a decade in Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence (IGGI) with over 120 PhD students looking at a wide variety of topics to increase understanding of the impact, design and experience of games. The award was presented at Tileyard North in Wakefield.

Simon Iwaniszak Studio Director of Red Kite Games said “There is growing research in our region that is supporting innovation and deeper understanding around the games we play and create and it was good to see the range of research underway. IGGI has been working in this area for a decade, and has collaborated with other Universities supporting research on accessibility, AI, game design and so much more. Many of the students that have done PhDs with IGGI have gone on to establish careers in leading companies including Sony, Rebellion and Splash Damage to name a few. We are fortunate to have IGGI and much leading research in Yorkshire and The North.”
