Game Republic’s Best Company Boss Award has been presented to Kimberley Turner Double 11 at Tileyard North. The Game Republic Best Company Boss Award which was sponsored by Other Things attracted nominations from large and small studios across the North. Kimberley was praised for combining many roles as co-founder and commercial and financial director at Double 11, for being instrumental in the Middlesbrough-based company’s success, growing the company to more than 370 people and £50m turnover, and supporting the company to move into self-publishing as well as on the hugely successful Goat Simulator game and more recently Minecraft Dungeons.
Matt Hitchcock Director of Other Things said “As a creative agency seeking to be good employers and bosses ourselves, the comments were really insightful, with the importance of how bosses make their teams feel being absolutely crucial to success and gaining this recognition. We are looking forward to seeing who the boss judge Rhianna Pratchett chose to win this Award, but think every nominee should feel really pleased that they have been acknowledged by their team in this way.”
On presenting the award to Kimberley Turner Matt added “The nominations in the best Company Boss category were very inspiring, every single nominee showed fantastic leadership qualities as well as an ability to support their teams. The winner Kimberley Turner has played a significant part in leading Double Eleven through exponential growth and managing subsequent organisational changes whilst supporting teams, advocating for the sector and encouraging people to be part of the games industry from the UK and across the world.”
