Publisher Yogscast Games and developer Goodviewgames have just announced they have signed an agreement to bring Dicealot, a super rogue-like dice game, to PC later this year – and it was as a direct result of the game being shown at the GaMaYo event last November!
Dicealot was spotted at GaMaYo by Simon Byron, Managing Director of Yogscast Games, who said he loved the mix of the medieval dice game Farkle with fantastic roguelike elements: “When we first saw Dicealot at a GaMaYo in Yorkshire in November, I took a picture of the game on display and posted it to our internal Discord with the text: I think this game is flirting with us,” said Byron. “Well, I’m over the moon that we’ve put a ring on it and can’t wait to show more off.”
GaMaYo is the twice-yearly B2B event for North of England game developers run by Game Republic, and is the biggest of its kind in the UK, with more than 300 developers, dozens of new games on-show from Northern game developers, roundtables, VIP networking for Game Republic members and in November, the Game Republic Awards. GaMaYo has been responsible for many other games being signed by publishers – and this time the event, which returns to Leeds on Thursday 22nd May, features 38 new games and guests including Epic Games, Devolver Digital, Xsolla and – hoping to see another great game to sign – Yogscast Games.
Dicealot improves the core game of Farkle in ways which only videogames allow – building on the core mix of luck, strategy and outright greed as players attempt to throw combinations of six dice in order to meet certain scoring criteria. Dicealot adds a thrilling adventure to tackle: King Arthur has been mysteriously bewitched, so players must assume the role of Queen Gwynevere, rounding up his faithful Knights to root out the source of his majesty’s malady.
